Q. What should I study to obtain a position as a Travel Consultant within the Tourism Industry?
A. Generally, a Certificate IV in Travel and Tourism is the minimal certification required, however some companies will require a Diploma. Some employers offer Traineeships where you are able to study in conjunction with work. For more specific information please contact the company directly whom you are interested in working for.

Q. What sort of employment options will I have within the Tourism Industry?
A. As with many industries a range of positions are offered such as Financial, Human Resources, Sales & Marketing, IT, Administration, Reception, Travel Consultant, Tour Guide & Legal roles.

Q. Does Tourism Queensland provide recruitment for companies other than Tourism Queensland?

Q. Do I need a formal qualification to be employed at Tourism Queensland?
A. This depends on the role you are applying for. Ideally you will have a minimum of 2-4 years work experience in the same or similar role. Formal qualifications can be an advantage however proven working experience in the role is essential.

A. Yes, Tourism Queensland believes it’s important to have employees who are continuing their education and expanding their knowledge both within their field and the Tourism Industry. Tourism Queensland has a "Further Learning Program" which assists employees financially in furthering their education.
