At Tourism Queensland we recognise the importance of attracting highly skilled and knowledgeable people to our organisation. One component of this strategy is to identify, recruit and utilise the skills of high performing students and graduates.
Since 2004, the University Alliance has been the official initiative that links Tourism Queensland with students from prominent universities in Queensland. Through the University Alliance, Tourism Queensland gives students studying undergraduate degrees in tourism, business, marketing or a related discipline the opportunity to undertake practical work experience. The University Alliance provides students with several different opportunities including involvement in Adhoc Project Placements and University Project Teams.
Adhoc Project Opportunities
Adhoc projects are business related projects, which are recruited for as the need arises. They provide "work experience" opportunities to students who have identified a clear goal to work with Tourism Queensland. The projects are flexible to suit the needs of the business and student.
University Project Teams
Being involved in a project team gives students the opportunity to work as part of a team on a "real work place" project that adds value to TQ's business and allows students to develop their work place skills. The project team manages their work and works closely with staff at TQ to complete the project. We aim to recruit for these in March of each year & the project team works together over a period of 2-3-months (1 or 2-days per week).
Graduate Opportunities
We aim to retain university graduates with a passion for excellence and a drive for success, who have offered their time in the business through the project team or an adhoc project.
Currently we are working with the University of Queensland, Griffith University and the Queensland University of Technology. We will be investigating links with other universities in the future. As such we welcome all high performing students to apply when opportunities are advertised regardless of which university they are from. When positions become available, they are advertised either on our Opportunities @ TQ website or on career sites managed by the universities (we do not keep resumes on file).
