Best Expedition in the World

Ben Southall is embarking on a new adventure as a follow up to his Best Job in the World role as the Caretaker of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef in 2009.

Ben’s voyage of discovery along the Great Barrier Reef will see him undertake a four month, 1600km kayak journey from the Town of 1770 on the Central Queensland Coast, north to Cooktown, retracing the route of Captain James Cook. He will set off on 21 May 2011 and arrive in Cooktown in mid September.

The Best Expedition in the World aims to raise the profile of the Great Barrier Reef, spread the message of research, education and conservation of the Great Barrier Reef, its islands and its vast tourism experiences. To assist Ben in his next adventure, he will paddle, pedal and sail a Hobie Kayak and be supported by a Sunsail catamaran.

The former Best Job in the World Island Caretaker and now Queensland Tourism Ambassador will track his progress and blog about his experiences through www.bestexpeditionintheworld.com.
