Cruise the Whitsundays in luxury aboard the new DescaradA 2

DescaradA Luxury Charters will this month launch their new luxury 110-foot vessel, DescaradA 2 into the warm Whitsundays waters.

Replacing DescaradA, the new vessel is almost twice the length and three times the volume, and can cater for up to 12 guests overnight in a range of cabins, all with ensuites.

With a beautiful fit-out and five-star meal service, guests will experience the islands of the Whitsundays in complete luxury.

New Dreamworks Animation Precinct open at Dreamworld

Lovable characters Shrek, King Julien and Po have made the Gold Coast their new home with the launch of the Dreamworks Experience at Dreamworld.

Guests enter the DreamWorks Experience and cross a bridge to be taken into Madagascar Madness, an overgrown jungle with newly-themed rides and a live stage show featuring some of the film's famous characters.

Over in Shrek’s Faire Faire Away, kids will love the four newly-themed rides and they can even meet Shrek himself along with Princess Fiona and Puss in Boots.

Coming later in 2012, Po’s Garden will bring the legendary Dragon Warrior to life with brand new rides and attractions.

Boutique Beer and Wholefoods on offer at new cafes in Airlie Beach

Denman Cellars and Beer Café has opened its door at the Port of Airlie quickly becoming THE place to be seen.

Stocking over 700 Australian and imported beers, along with boutique wines and spirits, the café also offers a tapas menu seven days a week.

Meanwhile, over at Crocodile Café and Wholefoods in Proserpine the focus is on organic fruit and vegetables, gluten-free products and an ever-changing menu using fresh local produce.

They also stock local arts and locally-made hemp products such as bedding, aprons and cushions.

Sail the Whitsundays on a tall ship

Traditional tall ship the ‘Derwent Hunter’ has been sailing the Whitsundays for 20 years and is now offering day trips from Airlie Beach.

Setting sail from the Port of Airlie marina, the Derwent Hunter hoists her traditional gaffed rig and sails north for popular and luscious fringing coral reef snorkelling spots off Hook and Hayman islands.

After an eco-guided walk on beautiful Langford sand cay, and lunch on board, the trip back to Airlie Beach is best enjoyed with a drink and cheese platter on the deck.
