Tourism Research Australia has released the latest International Visitor Survey results for the year ended December 2009.

International Tourism Snapshot highlights:

  • Nationally visitors from New Zealand, Asia and the Americas led the upswing in international visitors from the visiting friends or relative market

  •  Queensland saw a significant increase in holiday visitors from China, a welcome boost amid declines from Japan

  • International visitor numbers to a majority of Queensland regions improved, with Brisbane, Gold Coast and the Whitsundays seeing an increase. To read more, click here.

    Domestic Capacity highlights:

  • Domestic capacity into Queensland's airports during March 2010 was estimated at 259,115 weekly seats

  •  Jetstar and Tiger Airways have announced new capacity increases to a few of their services particularly to Cairns and from Brisbane, effective 28 March 2010
