In the face of extraordinary hardship and isolation the tenacity of Queensland’s Outback pioneers made dreams come true and forged the way for the dreams of future generations.
|
Names such as Durack, Kidman, Miles and Howe join others that will forever stand in our nation’s history as the champions of the ‘lucky’ country. Their stories trace a common theme. These were the sons and daughters of immigrants who, with little more than hope and hard work, blazed the trail for the creation of new communities, economic wealth, and groundbreaking advancements in pastoral and mining industries, power generation, politics, aviation and medical services. |
