Industry opportunities ...

Tourism Queensland is offering a no-cost digital ready opportunity to tourism businesses in the Toowoomba and South Burnett areas. Tourism Queensland will deliver a program aimed at improving tourism operator's digital strategy. This program consists of two, one-on-one mentoring sessions with a digital coach. Prior to the delivery of mentoring sessions, each tourism operator will have their website assessed by a consultant and will receive a report on site usability, search engine optimisation and online booking capacity (if the business does not currently have one). Registrations are now open for the 2012 QICA Conference in the Gladstone region from 21 to 24 February 2012. This is the premier conference in Queensland for both accredited and non-accredited visitor information centres. Details on the conference program, visitor information centre of the year awards and the online delegate registration form can be found on the QICA website.

The Outback and Gulf team at Tourism Queensland, in partnership with OQTA, would like to invite industry to the 'Outback and Gulf to the City Conversations with TQ'. Held from 28 to 30 March the event will bring Outback operators to Brisbane in a different format to that of previous 'Conversations with TQ' held in the region once a year. NEW! UK Trade Campaign – Q Factor 2011
Following the success of the 2010 Q Factor campaign, Tourism Queensland's UK office is planning to run a similar trade activity this year and would like to invite Queensland industry to participate. How to make social media work for you - Whitsundays
Tourism Queensland invites you to join representatives from Google, YouTube, Trip Advisor and Facebook for ‘Qtalks’ on Thursday 4 August in Airlie Beach. QTalks will provide you with an opportunity to hear directly from these organisations about why their websites are important to the tourism industry and how you can maximise the use of these sites for your business. This program will include presentations from each individual company and conclude with a panel discussion. QTalks is ideal for owners, managers, supervisors and team leaders of frontline tourism businesses including tours, accommodation, travel and booking agents as well as dining and retail businesses. How to apply for business grants - Townsville
This three-hour facilitated workshop helps tourism operators understand how to navigate the grant's space, including advice on how to find the right grant for their businesses and how to write a compelling grant application that meets the criteria and expectations of grant and funding providers. Nominate to become Queensland’s representative in the 2011 ARTN Young Regional Tourism Achiever Award
The 2011 ARTN Young Regional Tourism Achiever Award is a national program that recognises, incentivises and rewards professionals aged 30 years and younger currently working in, or focusing on, regional tourism. The Australian Regional Tourism Network (ARTN) is presenting the award, to be held in conjunction with the 2011 Australian Regional Tourism Convention. The successful nominee will be supported by Tourism Queensland with flights from their home base to Townsville, including accommodation and breakfast. The nominee will attend the 2011 Australian Regional Tourism Convention (8-12 August, Townsville) as an award finalist and have the opportunity to be mentored by tourism’s current captains of industry. Nominations are open until 5pm Wednesday 20 July 2011. Nominees are invited to complete the nomination form and seek further information here. Date claimer - South Queensland Tourism Industry Conference 18 to 20 October
The RACQ South Queensland Tourism Industry Conference includes three days of new and exciting education and training, relative to all regional tourism operators. The conference will be held in Warwick from 18 to 20 October.

2011 Cruise Down Under Conference
The 2011 Cruise Down Under Conference will be held from 24 - 26 August in Newcastle and is a 'must attend event' for destinations and operators wanting to play a part in the growing Australian cruise market. Click here for more information and to register.
