RESOURCE CENTRE
The first step is to make a commitment to being a better and more sustainable business. This starts with how you operate, how you engage your staff and where you can reduce your negative impacts and maximise your positive impacts. Do this before you engage your suppliers and tourism partners and then you can start talking to your customers and avoid any potential for ‘"greenwash". The following tools will help:
1. Visit the Tourism Queensland Sustainability Information Library to understand what climate change is and the potential impacts on your business. You should also ensure you are meeting your legal obligations
2. Complete the The Sustainability Checklist
3. Prepare a Sustainability Policy to document your organisation’s commitment
4. Engage Your Staff to ensure the success of your sustainability program by forming a ‘Green Team’
“All operators can become more sustainable. There are always little things to improve that do not take a lot of effort but will change a lot in the long run.” (read more) - Glenys Mansfield, Sarina Sugar Shed
