RESOURCE CENTRE
The Queensland Cruise Shipping Plan provides a whole-of-government framework for developing cruise shipping and sustainably realising Queensland's natural, cultural, social and economic potential.
Estimated total expenditure in Australia was $746.4 million in 2008-09, a 32 percent increase from 2007-08 when total expenditure was estimated at $564.5 million. The total expenditure includes expenditure by non-Australian passengers and crew, and cruise ship operator expenditure*.
Cruising is one of the fastest growing sectors in the international tourism industry. Queensland's unique location and features place it in an excellent position to capitalise on this lucrative growth opportunity.
The Queensland Cruise Shipping Plan is currently being redeveloped and will be available online soon.
