Tourism Fact Sheets

A range of nature-based tourism fact sheets have been produced by the TQ Research Department that provide an overview of international and domestic visitors that participate in nature-based activities whilst on holiday in Australia and Queensland. These fact sheets are updated on a regular basis and can be downloaded below.

The international ecotourism market fact sheets provide a brief overview of travel behaviour and motivations of international nature-based/ecotourism travellers. The information is based on a market research study conducted by the Destination Australia Market Alliance (DAMA) in 2004, which looked at travel behaviour and motivations of long-haul travellers in key international markets. Further secondary data analysis of the DAMA research was commissioned by Tourism Queensland to identify and profile tourists specifically interested in ecotourism experiences. Each of the International ecotourism market fact sheets can be downloaded below.

National Nature-Based Tourism Research

The Department of Industry, Tourism & Resources (DITR), in conjunction with industry, state tourism and national parks stakeholders contracted Colmar Brunton Social Research to undertake a segmentation study into demand for nature-based and indigenous tourism products. A summary of the nature-based tourism research appears below:
