International Study Tours

Tourism Queensland is committed to the development and marketing of Queensland's International Study Tourism experiences.

These pages provide information on International Study Tourism for tourism businesses, government agencies, education institutions and consumers.

The International Study Tourism pages are divided into sections, and can be accessed through the navigation bar on the left of each page. The site contains links to sites of interest, as well as research reports that can be freely downloaded from the site.

Tourism Queensland uses the following criteria to define a study tour participant. This definition has been endorsed by representatives from all education sectors in Queensland.

Study tour participants:

• Are international visitors;
• Have two main reasons for coming to Australia: education and holidays
• Come to Australia as individual traveller or a group
• When on tour, they travel as part of a group
• Stay less than 12 weeks
• Are not travelling on a student visa
• Spend most of their time either at a registered education institution and/or with a commercial tourism product with a strong focus on education and learning outcomes
• Are of all ages
• Include all four education sectors (primary and secondary school; English language; Vocational and Technical Education; and University)
