Queensland's coastal waters offer unique and spectacular cruising opportunities.

The Great Barrier Reef, a World Heritage listed area and credited as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, is a must-see natural attraction. For international tourists and locals alike, the Great Barrier Reef is one of Queensland's most popular cruising icons.

Stretching for more than 2,000km from Papua New Guinea along the Queensland coast to Bundaberg, the Great Barrier Reef offers a sheltered cruising environment. This section of the Queensland coast also features some of Australia's most historic cities and towns.

Tourism Queensland is working closely with the maritime industry, Queensland's cities and towns, and Government agencies and departments to sustainably grow cruise shipping in Queensland and the Pacific region.

Queensland is hosting the Cruise Down Under Annual Conference in Cairns in August 2006. Cruise Down Under is the peak marketing body for cruise shipping destinations in Australia and the Pacific.
