WESTERN DOWNS

Western Downs

The Western Downs is a distinctive rural Queensland tourism experience, exhibiting traces of early Australian pioneer settlement. It is an area rich with rural character, welcoming country towns and plenty of interesting bush events.

Farm stays, cattle property tours, museums, galleries and historic villages provide the opportunity to experience authentic country life and bygone eras when Cobb & Co coaches operated and bushrangers roamed the countryside.

Western Downs is located three hours west of Brisbane, extending from the western border of South East Queensland Country inland to Roma, Dirranbandi and Bollon, and from the Queensland/New South Wales border north to Taroom, Injune and Carnarvon Gorge.

Toowoomba Golden West and South Burnett Tourism is the Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO), which is responsible for marketing the Western Downs as a tourism destination.
