Along with research and consultation (formal and informal), there are a number of national and state strategic plans that are considered in the formulation of a DMP, such as the Australian Government’s Tourism White Paper, the Queensland Tourism Strategy, Queensland Government policy and whole-of-state plans, as well as local government and regional development plans. Other stakeholders’ plans are also taken into consideration.
A review of the DMP is underway, in close cooperation with Tourism Tropical North Queensland and it is estimated that the document will be ready for release in late November 2007.
The desired outcome of the DMP refresh is increased cooperation and participation from the tourism stakeholders to achieve industry sustainability and profitability.
