National Tourism Accreditation Framework

There are many programs involved in accrediting, rating or certifying tourism products, services and/or providers. Ranging from star ratings to environmental certification, these programs make a significant contribution to building a better tourism business and industry, however, the diverse number of programs makes it confusing for consumers and operators.

On 11 May 2010, the Australian Government announced funding to support the implementation and operation of the National Tourism Accreditation Framework (NTAF). The NTAF provides an umbrella framework under which existing quality and accreditation programs can apply to co-brand with a common national brand and standard to build consumer awareness and purchasing preference. The NTAF will provide a basis for Tourism Australia and the State Tourism Organisations to differentiate ‘quality’ businesses.

For more information on NTAF visit the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism.
